Vacation Rentals in Scottsdale, Arizona![]() |
Vacation rental homes in Scottsdale, Arizona offer a wide range of choices to visitors from all over the world. Many of the vacation rental choices offered are reflective of the very different neighborhoods which comprise the city.
Scottsdale was founded in 1888 in the area of what is now known as south Scottsdale. This southern part of the city is bounded by Mckellips Road on the south and Thomas Road on the north. Most of the homes, town homes, and condominiums in south Scottsdale were built before 1965. In south Scottsdale, vacation rental homes are almost non existent and what is available is exclusively for the budget vacation rental traveler. Although many of these homes are affordable vacation rentals, these vacation rentals are typically architecturally limited with very small rooms and very low ceilings. The floor plans of these south Scottsdale vacation rental homes are “boxy” and old fashioned and don’t offer much more than a place to sleep and prepare meals.
Vacationers looking for a more luxurious vacation rental accommodations have many options just a few minutes north in the main tourist destination of Scottsdale known as “Old Town.” Historically, many tourists have stayed in or around this part of the city. The charm and uniqueness of Scottsdale is most readily seen in the part of the city which runs on both sides of Scottsdale Road, bounded by Camelback Road to the north and Thomas Road to the south. The Old Town Scottsdale vacation rental home options are also very limited since almost all of the homes in Old Town were built before 1975. The only real options for travelers wanting mid range to luxury accommodations are to either stay in one of the many hotels in the area or to arrange for a condominium vacation rental at one of the numerous recently constructed condominium buildings. Unfortunately, most of these newly constructed buildings have restrictions against short term rentals in Scottsdale.
The Old Town area has been booming with development for several years and the pace does not appear to be letting up. New energy has recently been brought to the area with the completion of several major retail developments over the last few years. The recently completed Waterfront project has added upscale restaurants, boutique shopping, and lavish condominiums to the already vibrant Camelback Road corridor. Most prominent is the work of Westcor Development Corporation. Westcor is in the process of completely rebuilding sections of the very popular Scottsdale Fashion Square Mall.
During the 1970’s and 1980’s Scottsdale continued growing in a northerly direction. Today, almost all of the modern luxury homes are north of Camelback Road. Consequently, that is where vacationers will find the most luxurious vacation rental homes in Scottsdale. Perhaps the most highly desirable of all is a community only 4.3 miles north of the Old Town area known as McCormick Ranch. The "Ranch" as the locals like to say, was the last large working ranch located in the city of Scottsdale. Today it is one of the most highly desirable and sought after neighborhoods in all of Arizona.
McCormick Ranch is extremely popular amongst locals and tourists alike because it is unusually green and highly vegetated with miles of walking paths collectively known as "The Walk." Vacation Rental Homes in Scottsdale’s McCormick Ranch are plentiful and many are lavishly upgraded. This area of Scottsdale is likely to remain very highly sought after for vacationers because of its close proximity to the Old Town area, and the modern construction architectures. It is the combination of these two factors which makes this area of Scottsdale a perfect area for vacationers seeking luxury vacation rental home accommodations in Scottsdale.
The newest areas of Scottsdale are found north of Shea Blvd. Just a few miles north of the Shea corridor, is one of the happening new places in all of Scottsdale. This development is called the Kierland Commons, but the area should almost certainly be called “New Town” because everything in the area is new and beautiful. Kierland Commons is an outdoor mall with plenty of chic restaurants, shops, bars, and nightclubs. There is an outdoor water fountain (not a traditional fountain but rather flat ground that water shoots out of up into the air) that children are allowed to play in.
Although there are several large hotels in the area, many people prefer to stay in vacation rental homes in the Kierland area. Most of the rental homes offered as vacation rentals in Kierland were built within the last 10 years and most are highly upgraded vacation rental homes with private pools and spas, built-in BBQ’s, and resort-like backyards. These special vacation rental homes are designed with an eye towards the indoor/outdoor vacation experience which most travelers are looking for in a luxurious Scottsdale vacation rental home.
